A historical romance, it recounts the adventures of four fictional swashbuckling heroes who lived under the French kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV, who reigned during the 17th and early 18th centuries.
At the beginning of the story, D’Artagnan arrives in Paris from Gascony and becomes involved in three duels with the three musketeers Athos, Porthos and Aramis. The four become such close friends that when D’Artagnan serves as an apprentice cadet, which he must do before becoming a musketeer, each of his friends takes turns sharing guard duty with him.

This novel is a classic of 19th century English literature. It deals in parallel with the realities of England and a revolutionary France.
Taking the French Revolution as a point of reference, Dickens depicts the social and political problems of England, fearing that history would repeat itself in his native country when he was writing this novel.

3) The Adventures of Sherlock Homes
Author: Arthur Conan Doyle
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of twelve short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, first published on October 14, 1892.
It contains the first stories featuring the consulting detective Sherlock Holmes, which was published in twelve monthly issues of “The Strand Magazine” from July 1891 to June 1892.
The stories are collected in the same sequence, which is not compatible with any fictional chronology. The only common characters in all twelve are Holmes and Dr. Watson and all are related in the first person narrative from Watson’s point of view.
